Square Enix have announced the list of enhancements that are planned for Rise of the Tomb Raider on the Xbox One X. It was reported earlier today that Microsoft had updated the list of games getting Xbox One X support, but more details are now available for Tomb Raider specifically.
The bulk of the improvments come from graphical enhancements. Interestingly the game will have three different visual modes
- Native 4K
- Enriched Visuals
- High Frame Rate
We’d assume native 4k will be 30 fps, high frame rate will be 1080P 60 fps, and enriched visuals will be something in between. This will be a good move from Microsoft to allow this choice for gamers to make. Not everyone is looking for 4k gaming. Personally I’d much prefer 60 fps over 4k.
A couple more enhancements for Rise of the Tomb Raider are:
- HDR display support
- Spatial audio support
- Enhanced texture resolutions for Lara, NPCs and environments
- Improved anti-aliasing
- Improved volumetric lights
- Improved reflections
- Enhanced foliage
- Upgraded polygonal details
Rise of the Tomb Raider is available right now on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
